Hackensack has a bit of everything, which makes it one of the more varied places we work. There is genuinely old housing near the centre, mid-century single family further out, and a good deal of apartment stock in between, some of it recent enough that every fireplace in the building came out of the same box.

The apartment and condo work has its own character. Sealed direct vent units, little used, and often nobody is certain whether the fireplace is the resident's responsibility or the building's. That is worth establishing before we start, and we are happy to help work it out.

In the older single family stock it is the usual North Jersey pattern: masonry built for wood, converted to gas at some point, with the conversion being the part that ages. Nothing unusual, and mostly very fixable.
